The state of Quintana Roo has recorded its lowest temperature so far this year. The cold air that arrived with front number 14 saw parts of the state dip down to 14C (57F).
Adrián Martínez Ortega, the general director of Coordinación Estatal de Protección Civil, said the current cold front, which is expected to move off in the next day or so, has generated the season’s coldest temperature this winter.
He said the 14C was recorded at dawn Wednesday by the federal agency National Water Commission (Conagua). The low temperatures were felt in the municipalities of Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Solidaridad, who registered the new cold low for 2021.
In early November for Cold Front No. 7, Martinez recalled the lowest temperature recorded around the state then was 14.2C, which was also recorded in Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
The cold temperatures are felt mostly during the night and early morning hours with daytime temperatures rebounding to seasonal averages.
