Covid-related circumstances cause Royal Caribbean to cancels two Cozumel cruises

Cozumel, Q.R. — Royal Caribbean has announced the cancellation of four January cruises. The company said that “as a result of the ongoing covid-related circumstances around the world, and in an abundance of caution, Royal Caribbean International is pausing operations” for four of its ships.

Two of the canceled ships were scheduled to dock in Cozumel. New dates for some their arrivals have been announced. Royal Caribbean says cruising for its Vision of the Seas is postponed until March 7, 2022.

Passengers booked on Serenade of the Seas, which was scheduled to sail from January 8 to March 5, has been canceled. The ship will return to dry dock on April 26. It was scheduled to dock Punta Langosta in Cozumel on January 10.

Other cruises including Jewel of the Seas, with scheduled sailings from January 9 to February 12, are also canceled. Royal Caribbean has announced a return date of February 20 for those cruises. That ship was scheduled to dock the SSA International Pier of Cozumel on January 13.

Symphony of the Seas sailings from January 8 to January 22, have also been canceled, but will return on January 29, 2022. Neither Vision of the Seas nor Symphony of the Seas were scheduled to dock Cozumel.

“We regret having to cancel our guests’ long-awaited vacations and appreciate their loyalty and understanding,” the company said in a statement. “Our top priority is always the well-being of our guests, our crew and the communities we visit.”
