Presentan empresarios decálogo para fortalecer turismo en México

The reactivation of tourism promotion and a national sustainability strategy in this sector were some of the requests included in the decalogue presented today at the opening of the National Tourism Congress, an event held in Mexico City and organized by the National Tourism Business Council (CNET).
In his opening message, Braulio Arsuaga Losada, president of this organization, detailed this “decalogue” of requests that the CNET will deliver to all candidates for the presidency of the republic, with the purpose of strengthening this economic sector, one of the most important in the country and the largest generator of employment.
This event was attended by authorities and business chambers from all over the country, including the governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama; the state secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto Riestra; and members of the Hotel Council of the Mexican Caribbean.
In front of Miguel Torruco Marqués, head of the Ministry of Tourism, the representative of the sector asked to reactivate the country's tourism promotion, with the channeling of 100 percent of the resources for the non-migrant rights (DNR) and the Lodging Tax. He also requested to resume the Visit Mexico platform (whose traffic has fallen by 85%) considering it "frustrating" that the country does not have a powerful website where they can display tourist products and destinations.
Braulio Arsuaga proposed that the new government should change course in tourism policy and asked for the withdrawal of the military from the construction of all types of infrastructure, including tourism.
"My recognition to the armed forces, but in Mexico there is no space for the military to take charge of the construction and operation of tourist services," he said.
Other points include reestablishing dialogue with the productive sector, promoting a national sustainability strategy, simplifying the procedures of the current regulatory framework, strengthening air connectivity and territorial infrastructure, assisting tourists with visa and customs issues, supporting MSMEs and reviewing the viability of the Integrated Planned Centers.
It should be noted that all the money raised at this event, through ticket sales, will be donated to Acapulco, an issue that was also addressed by Braulio Arsuaga Losada, who requested a strong federal investment for its reconstruction, but in a planned manner.
